Office Furniture
Knoll has enjoyed a long history of being the preferred office
furniture manufacturer of the design community. Founded in 1938
in New York by the German immigrant Hans Knoll this company has
continually produced a wide variety of functional furniture with
a distinctly modern look. Today there are more than 30 Knoll
products in the Design Collection of the Museum of Modern Art in
New York City. Much of their success can be attributed to a firm
belief in crediting their designers by name and paying royalties
for their designs. Florence Knoll, the companies' matriarch,
helped to shape the enterprise through her philosophy that
excellence of form is as much a result of function as aesthetic.
Her credo "good design is good business" tm and her philosophy
are still very much alive at Knoll today.
